We weren’t even sure if we wanted a ‘big’ wedding… until we found Iscoyd and from that moment there was no looking back! We had done some online research for venues that could hold 150 people and had a church onsite, but I never imagined we would find somewhere as perfect as Iscoyd.
We drove up from London one sunny January weekend, full of anticipation and after a beautiful service at St Mary’s, met Ffion and team for our show-around. We were instantly sold and locked in provisional dates there and then for October later that year.
There is just something so special about Iscoyd. As a venue, it is grand yet also feels welcoming and family orientated. Each room has its own unique style and personality and being able to take-over the entire house for the whole day just felt incredible – it really suited our extended family and friends so well! The grounds are also beautiful, any time of year. The Iscoyd Cottage for our night before the wedding was just perfect too (I would happily move in and live here permanently!) There is so much flexibility with different rooms able to host various elements of your wedding day, you are really spoilt for choice, whatever the British weather decides to do!
It’s the little extras that Iscoyd do so well – Neom candles lit in every room, in-house fresh flowers in keeping with your wedding’s theme, fairy lights and vintage chandeliers added to the marquee, and a team of event planners who really feel like an extension of your wedding party by the time your wedding date comes around! We also have to mention the 5 star food, which certainly makes Iscoyd stand out.
There could not have been a more perfect venue for our wedding, and we feel so lucky to have found you Iscoyd!
Too hard to pick! Can we list a few favourites?!
Matthew and I have talked about this quite a bit and would both probably say – the vows in the church (surrounded by the love and joy of all our friends and family), walking into the wedding breakfast to the tune of Jackie Wilson, ‘Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher and Higher’, and then the mega party on the dancefloor!
I think in my head I was hoping the overall day would have a vintage glam feel with a modern, fun twist?! But we didn’t have an official theme really – instead we centred the wedding around things we both loved (delicious food, drink and a big party).
We loved Iscoyd so much that we pulled through the ‘house’ design into our invitations, order of service and on the day signage, together with eucalyptus greenery. I worked with my super talented designer friend Claire Boston, who helped bring our ideas to life – we were so happy with how everything turned out – thank you Claire!
When I was asked in advance about the wedding theme – I just responded with ‘fun!’ Above all, we just wanted to have fun and celebrate!
I chose a Pronovias Panjin wedding dress from their New Bond Street store, which I found on my birthday with one of my bridesmaids. My mum helped me at the subsequent fittings as I made quite a few alterations to the original dress. There were three different types of lace within the dress and just the right amount of sparkle for me. I chose a simple, double-layered veil for the church service, which complimented the dress well.
I didn’t want my bridesmaids all wearing the same, so my sister was in a vintage floaty, cream and floral dress, with my two other bridesmaids in pink and green Ghost satin dresses which tied into the colours in my sisters’ dress.
Matthew and the groomsmen chose to wear tails. Matthew wore an ivory waistcoat from Neal & Palmer with a green tie, and the ushers toned with darker green ties and matching oatmeal waistcoats.
We chose Selina Godsal given her connection with Iscoyd. The church at St Mary’s was so magical – Selina added a stunning floral arch to the outside entrance and decorated the interior posts with roses and trailing greenery. Within the main house, Selina crafted impressive displays in the entrance hall and reception rooms, which created just the right mood. The staircase flowers were just what I had imagined and the suspended ‘floral ladder’ in the marquee was stunning. My beautiful bouquet pulled through some of the eucalyptus again, with creams and soft pinks.
We went with Lisa Webb for photography. Lisa is famous for her relaxed and down to earth style, she understood we didn’t want to spend too much time ‘away’ doing photos, yet she still captured amazing shots. Lisa was so lovely to have around as part of our day and is just the nicest person.
Pat Holt did our videography and we can’t wait to receive the video to re-live the day again. Pat’s style focuses on capturing the feelings and emotions from the day, in a really discreet way. Pat and Lisa worked really well together and blended in like other guests – Pat even carried my bag and bouquet at certain points – thanks Pat!! In fact all our suppliers were just wonderful and I would love to give a special mention to Vicky and Maxine who were the absolute dream team for hair and make-up! They went above and beyond and really felt like part of the family – thanks to Iscoyd for the fabulous recommendations!
We knew we wanted a band and a DJ set – the Jonny Ross platform had lots of great options and after watching a few YouTube videos we settled on The Wilde Ones. They were amazing! Lots of guests commented that the band were brilliant, but what we also loved was the flow between the band and DJ sets. Some weddings you go to have a lull between them, but we didn’t have that at all and the dance floor was packed for 4 hours! Memories to last a lifetime.
We made a late decision to add the ‘Capture It’ photo booth, who setup next to the dance floor. This added a great memento for us to take home the next day and our guests loved getting an instant copy of the snaps too.
Enjoy every second!
It’s a once in a lifetime event and remember everyone is there because they love you and want to share in your happiness and joy.
