We were so very proud to be the cover story over on Shropshire Business’ July/August edition where Henry Carpenter shared a glowing round up of all things Iscoyd. Those of you already signed up to our Instagram and Facebook accounts will have seen our post on the editorial but we were so proud that we couldn’t help sharing the news on our blog too.
The three page spread was a joyous conversation between Iscoyd owner Phil and Henry – who wrote the article. No ground was left unturned as the pair discussed everything from conservation effects, the culinary team, the wonderful Iscoyd team and future projects that Phil and Susie have planned for the estate and gardens.
A particular focus of the piece was addressing the effects of Covid and the unavoidable closure of Iscoyd Park during the lockdown period and the subsequent surprisingly positive effects on the venue. As Phil states ‘We definitely came out of the pandemic with a stronger, more desirable venue. And the grit, determination and loyalty shown by the team here has been extraordinary – I could not be more proud of them.”
Phil and Henry take time to reflect some of the ambitious projects that have already been successfully completed at Iscoyd in recent months namely the Bridal Cottage, a black- and-white property on the edge of the estate which allows bridal parties to have a get-together the day before the wedding. Phil shares one of the key motivations of the renovation of the cottage came about out of the desire to provide a really wonderful pre-wedding experience – “we wanted couples not have to worry about any time or travelling issues. It really is beautiful”.
Other new accommodation developments also include the Showman’s Wagon which despite the name incorporates all the modern comforts that can also be found in the house itself. Lastly the conversation turns to the latest addition to Iscoyd’s licensed ceremony spaces – the Pigeon House – which unlike the others can be found outside nestled in amongst a beautiful white garden specially designed to provide a complementary backdrop for those all important wedding ceremony photos.
Excitingly Phil reveals in the article one of the next steps he plans to take in the evolution of Iscoyd – the walled garden which sits behind a beautiful brick wall only a hop, skip and jump away from the main house. Phil and Susie are focused in their determination to make Iscoyd sustainable with a net-zero footprint and develop the largely neglected area as a beautiful space that also works hard by producing vegetables and fruit for the kitchens, and flowers which can be used for the house and weddings, rather than importing them.
Special mention also goes to everyone who has supported Phil and his family by attending events at the house as well as the couples who choose to marry at the venue, the wider Iscoyd team and the local community. Without these wonderful people, the house and gardens would not be in the beneficial position that it is is in today. Phil articulates this best in the article in his words…
“It really is like an unofficial club with relationships that last many years and we have so many supporters who are sharing our journey with us.”
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!
