Man’s best friend and an absolute favourite here at Iscoyd Park. We adore our four legged pals, so much so that Iscoyd’s resident dogs – Mabel, Frida and Willow have their very own ‘Team Members’ page on the Iscoyd website. We also know just how much our pawfect friends mean to you too, how they go beyond the realms of a pet and are indeed much loved family members. For us, and so many of you, our canine friends come along with us on exciting adventures and are an intrinsic part of some of our most beloved memories. Why then, should your wedding day be any different?
After numerous requests from engaged couples asking if their faithful hounds could attend their wedding day here at the house, we felt we had no choice but to help make it happen. We know how much it means to you to have your furry friends present with you on your special day so we are proud to say that we are a dog friendly wedding venue. Whether that means your pooch is an adorable ring bearer or perhaps just brings the star power to your drinks reception, we can’t wait to meet them.
All we ask is that you arrange for a doggy babysitter to take your four legged pal home again as we’re unable to let them stay over at the house. We also ask that that they keep all four paws on the ground floor and don’t venture upstairs. We are so proud to have so much space in the grounds and gardens that we’re certain there’ll be something to keep them entertained after meeting and greeting all your guests.
We know that for many of our couples, being able to include their pet pooch in their celebrations has meant the world to them. Iscoyd bride Kyra summed it up perfectly when she told us that ‘Being able to have our whippet, Arlo, involved in the day made such a big difference to us as well. We couldn’t imagine him not being there so the option to include him made it really special!’ He’s the adorable whippet featured in the montage at the beginning of the post.
But this is what the essence of Iscoyd is truly about. We work with you to help create the wedding you have been dreaming of, something that is uniquely yours. If we have done our job properly, you will be so happy and comfortable here that you will feel Iscoyd is your home too so it made complete sense to us to allow dogs to be a part of weddings here at the house.
It’s worth bearing some things in mind before committing to including your dog in your wedding day. What is their personality like? If they’re super shy retiring types or possess a nervous, excitable disposition then it might perhaps be too taxing for them to be a part of an event where both the people and the environment are unfamiliar. Consider your guests’ allergies and fears; is there anyone that may be affected by your dog’s presence? Great Aunt Mabel sneezing throughout your wedding ceremony is perhaps not the soundtrack you’re looking for as you say your vows.
Consider hiring a dedicated dog sitter who will not only look after your pup overnight but also take it for walks and ensure it is fed and watered throughout the day itself. This will take the pressure off you as a couple and alleviate any concerns about their welfare throughout your wedding. Don’t forget to pack your pet’s favourite things too such as toys, snacks and a blanket or portable dog bed. The more comfortable they are, the happier they’ll be. These are just some top tips to bear in mind before including your dog in your day. And of course we are more than happy to help wherever we can!
We hope that the pictures above have inspired you and perhaps have even given you some ideas about including your own pet in your wedding day, whether that’s here at Iscoyd or elsewhere. All of our furry pals can be found on our Pinterest account and we have a dedicated board just for them which you can check out here. There’s pups galore but even the odd sheep, pony and pig to be found too!
We also wanted to remind you, whilst we have your attention, about the wonderful Historic Houses membership offer that is still running. For those of you who might not have read our previous blog on the wonderful news of Phil’s appointment to Chairman of Historic Houses Wales (you can read about it here) then we’re here to let you know that it’s not too late to sign up for a membership which provides you with free entry to participating properties, a copy of the “Historic House” magazine sent four times a year as well as special access to exclusive tours not available to non-members.
We have been lucky enough to be given a discount code by Historic Houses especially for our readers which you can use when signing up for a membership or even gifting one to a loved one. Simply type the code ISCO85 when signing up to qualify for this wonderful offer. In doing so you’ll be supporting us here at Iscoyd too as the organisation will make a matching donation to us for each membership that is fulfilled.
