What made you choose Iscoyd Park for your wedding venue?
We got engaged in December 2020. I was desperate to visit wedding venues but we had to wait for the lockdown restrictions to be lifted. Iscoyd Park was the first viewing we booked and we couldn’t wait to visit as online it ticked every box.
From the very first moment we walked into Iscoyd we knew it was the ‘one’ we looked at each other when we walked through the main door and said ‘this is it!’
We loved the traditional feel with the modern elements and felt so at home walking around. We wanted a private venue where we could have our friends and family stay with us. We fell in love with Iscoyd, its traditional charm, the unique bedrooms and the friendly staff. We booked the venue on the day and cancelled all of our other venue viewings.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
My favourite part of the day was walking down the aisle with my dad. It was such an emotional moment made even more emotional by the string quartet playing a song to let Joel know that I was at the venue but he couldn’t yet see me. It was so beautiful to hear the song on the walk to the ceremony room knowing that just a few moments later we would see each other for the first time.
Joel: My favourite moment has to be seeing Jen for the first time. The overwhelming emotion of seeing the person you love knowing you’re about to get married was and will always be my most favourite memory.
Tell us a little bit about your wedding theme.
As we got married on the 23rd Dec I was determined not to make the theme Christmassy. Instead of picking a colour I instead decided that I would let my Maid of Honour (my sister) pick a dress that she loved and we would use that colour for the theme of the day. It was more important to me that she had a dress that she loved and felt confident in than her pick a dress because it was the right colour.
She picked a gorgeous French blue Ted Baker dress, however gorgeous the dress the shade of blue turned out to be the most difficult colour to match but we made it work with tonnes of navy and blue matched with gold. I think it came together really well even though it was hard to match!
The Outfits; Who did you wear? What did your bridal party wear?
My dress was by Jesus Peiro. I originally had the dress and a veil but when we went back for the second fitting, I couldn’t get these sleeves I had seen on a Portuguese influencer that wore Jesus Peiro out of my mind so I tried them on and the look was complete. The sleeves were also Jesus Peiro. My shoes were Jimmy Choo; my mum bought the shoes for my year 11 prom and when she gave them to me, she said they were my wedding shoes but she wanted me to wear them to all my memorable occasions.
The Flowers; Tell us some more about your blooms.
So, my Mum has said since I was little that she wanted to do the flowers when I got married. When we got engaged, she booked onto a floristry course and spend two years learning how to do the perfect wedding flowers.
She collected foliage from friends and family and bought the flowers from a Holland wholesaler and got to work. The house was filled with white roses, eucalyptus, veronicas, thistles and gyp.
In the weeks running up to the wedding we shared many Pinterest images of how we wanted the flowers to look, every picture was sent over with a slight worry as to how one person was going to do some much. But my mum got to work and the house was filled with buckets of flowers; my mum was in her element.
The finished flowers looked incredible and I will always be forever grateful to my Mum for all of her hard work. The archway that we got married under was incredible and made even more memorable as my mum worked so hard to make it perfect. All of our wedding guests left with a centrepiece; she was very pleased to pass on the displays so that all the guests could then enjoy them in their own home.
We have all joked that she should give up her day job and start- Bellis Blooms! Watch this space.
The majority of my bouquet was grown in my parent’s garden with a touching tribute to my grandmother tucked in the middle of the bouquet. It is something I will treasure forever.
The Photography; Who were your photographers and why did you choose them?
We chose Alex Boswell as our photographer. We had quite a specific vision for the photography, we wanted everything un posed, more documentary style as we both confess to not loving posed traditional photographs.
Alex was a friend of a friend and we loved him from the very moment we met him. He just got it, the vision, the documentary style and that we didn’t want to be disturbed or away from our wedding party for longer than 10 minutes.
He photographed our engagement party and we loved the images, he was booked and we never looked back.
We love the wedding images; unposed, natural all whilst catching the pure love and fun of the day.
The Evening; Give us the lowdown on entertainment.
Joel and I are massively into music but we both love different things. He loves indie music and I love 90s pop! It was difficult to find a band that did both genres well but we were so happy with Jump Start. They were so easy to communicate with and totally got our music choices. We wanted to be able to dance the night away with all our favourite people and we definitely did!

Remember it’s about you two.
Don’t choose any element of the day to please someone else. Choose the food you like, the flowers that make you happy, the vows that mean the most to you and the people you love.
And to only follow the traditions that mean something to the two of you, don’t get sucked into the things you feel you should have because it’s traditional to do so. The more you make your day personal to what you both love the more you look back with the fondest memories and with no regrets.
