What made you choose Iscoyd Park for your wedding venue?
We have always said choosing Iscoyd was meant to be. We fell in love from the moment we drove up and had our first view of the house, and it simply got better and better the more we saw. It’s such a beautiful venue, giving you the balance of being somewhere that feels really special, but also still quite intimate and homely. We could talk endlessly about the beauty of Iscoyd and how perfect it was. And can we mention the food?! Just incredible!
What really makes Iscoyd extra special is the people – we were welcomed with open arms from the moment we first visited and we can’t recommend or thank the team enough (special mention to our wedding coordinator Kate who was an absolute dream!). They genuinely go the extra mile throughout the planning process through until after your day, and this made the world of difference to us and only added to how special our day was.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
It’s so difficult to single out one moment of the day as it was all so special – as the day itself was one of our favourite days full stop! Obviously the actual getting married part was pretty special, but generally seeing all our of favourite people come together in such beautiful location really was something. We were also so lucky with the weather – we must have had the wettest June on record on the run up to the day, so we were really worried that we wouldn’t get to have our dream reception outside. However, luck was on our side and we had the most glorious sunshine for the entire weekend! Some of our guests even burned it was so warm!
Some of the most special moments however were created by our suppliers.
Harmony String Quartet provided some gorgeous pre-ceremony and reception music (think Bridgerton vibes!) and I’m so glad we decided to book them. Our first dance was super special, as was our Champagne tower – a last minute addition but it went down really well with our guests!
Tell us a little bit about your wedding theme.
We went for a super neutral palette across everything, from flowers to decor and bridesmaids dresses as we knew we wanted to keep it super simple but classic to really compliment the venue. Everything was primarily whites, creams and blacks, with some cream, light pink and ‘mocha’ accents.
The Outfits; Who did you wear? What did your bridal party wear?
My dress was by Eva Lendel which I bought from Dolly Blue Bridal in Shrewsbury and was definitely a dream dress for me. My shoes were my “something blue” from Dior, and my veil was my “something borrowed” from a friend who got married last year. The bridesmaids all wore a Six Stories dress which was just stunning on them all! Tom’s suit was custom from Moss Bros, as were the Groomsmen’s suits, and his shoes were Loake. We tied them all together through the same ties and pocket squares which complimented the bridesmaids and general colour palette for the day.
The Flowers; Tell us some more about your blooms.
Where do I start with the flowers. Both Mum and I cried when we had our first glimpse the day before the wedding as they were even more perfect that I expected. I knew that we wanted to dress the famous Iscoyd staircase, and also have some features dotted throughout the venue. Sarah and Fran from Big Little Things Florist absolutely nailed the brief!
The palette was soft pinks, mochas, toffees, creams and whites – all very neutral with a whimsical feel. The other highlight was our aerial hanging in the marquee – we saw one at our tasting back in January and I was determined to make it happen – it was a beautiful cloud of gypsophila and other flowers used in the other arrangements.
The Photography; Who were your photographers and why did you choose them?
Capturing our wedding was one of the most important things to us when we were planning the day. Toria (
Toria Frances Photography) was our photographer and what a dream she was! We wanted a super relaxed, editorial style and Toria came highly recommended. She absolutely nailed the brief and the photos have turned out beautifully, I cannot recommend her enough.
We also knew that we wanted a videographer to capture our wedding, to which
Sheridale Productions (Kim & Trey) came highly recommended from some friends of ours. Much like Toria they blended into the day perfectly, and their friendly faces were always there to help us through the day and capture the best moments. We’re yet to see our videos, but we cannot wait to re-live the day!
More importantly Toria, Kim and Trey blended into the background and our family and friends really recognised and appreciated this throughout the day – they also made us feel super comfortable given we’re not always great in front of the camera!
The Evening; Give us the lowdown on entertainment.
Controversially, we’re not huge party people! Chilled cocktails outside over ‘golden hour’ are much more our vibe, but it was still really important for us to have some time in the evening to let loose and dance with our guests! We had the
Acoustic Underdogs as our live band throughout the night and they were incredible – I think they managed to get everyone up and dancing deep into the evening!
Words of Wedding Wisdom?
For us there are two things. Firstly, enjoy every moment of the build up and planning because you will only do it once! It took us exactly 12 months to plan our wedding but it flew by so quickly – it feels like only yesterday that we secured our date at Iscoyd.
The other thing would be to make sure you have something planned for the day after the wedding – the come down is very real! Even if it’s simply spending more time with family, the wedding blues hit us badly when we said our goodbyes on the Sunday morning, and it was really important to us to continue celebrating, even if it was only a few drinks at the local pub!
