Iscoyd completely took our breath away from the moment we arrived for our first visit! We fell in love with the house immediately, the grounds, the house, the bedrooms, and the overall wonderful cosy homely vibes that it radiates. The first time we visited, we had the pleasure of being shown around by the owner, Phil, who told us all about his family history and how the house has been past down the generations and his aspirations of turning it into the beautiful wedding venue that it is today. The modern yet historical and homely aesthetic was really what sold it for us, we instantly got that ‘this is the one’ feeling, there really wasn’t a single reason for us not to choose here as our wedding venue.
Not forgetting to mention the staff who were so accommodating, wonderful and super supportive, especially our wedding manager, Ffion, who was incredible from day one, just positives all round!
Oh my gosh how do we chose a favourite part! We absolutely loved our entire day. Celebrating with all our favourite people was just incredible. However, for me it was walking down the aisle, seeing everyone, and getting to marry Lewis. I felt so giddy and excited for the day ahead. For Lewis it was the wedding breakfast and the insanely talented Adam (our host from The DFC Experience) with the entertainment, we had so much fun with everyone singing and dancing on the chairs! Actually, this was a favourite part of my day too!
Another couple of favourite moments that I must share were the sparkler shot out the back of house, dancing in-between everyone with our saxophonist, and our photographer capturing the moment that Lewis and his groomsman threw me in the air for the most incredible photo!
We didn’t go for a specific theme however we did want colours to compliment us and the aesthetic of the house, which was neutrals, olive green, oranges with modern black touches and DISCO BALLS. Aside from the looks, our theme was FUN, we wanted to have plenty of entertainment that got people up and having the time of their lives. From guest feedback, I really think we achieved this with DFC’s take on bongo’s bingo during the wedding breakfast, the amazing Paddy singing with Rory the Saxophonist and everything in-between!
I wore my absolute dream dress from Brides of Chester, the designer is Justin Alexander, with a long veil with delicate petals and lace detailing around the edges, a lovely pearl headband and the ‘Harlow’ pins from The Bobby Pin UK. My bridesmaids wore the wonderful Six Stories crepe dresses in sage green, they come in different styles, but it just happened that two wore one style and two wore another style. They looked absolutely beautiful.
The boys all wore a deep green suit from Groom, unfortunately I can’t find it on the website now, however it was a lovely suit and the boys all scrubbed up so well! Their suits were complimented with matching ties and pocket squares to the bridesmaid’s dresses from Six Stories.
This really isn’t my strong point but to go off how our amazing Florist (Katie, Unique Your Wedding) described our flowers, we went for early summer delicate blooms teamed with a soft colour palette and fluffy textures with modern black edges. They were exactly what we imagined and more. I absolutely loved how they complimented the house and the stationary that we chose. My bouquet was stunning I loved every single layer of it and my wonderful bridesmaids had a smaller but just as stunning version of it. The boys all had buttonholes to match. Katie did an incredible job bringing my vision to life!
I came across the wonderful Sarah Horton on social media and fell in love with her images instantly, her light and airy style was exactly what I was looking for so there was no hesitation in booking Sarah to capture our day! We have had our previews through which were even better than we expected, we can not wait to see the rest of the gallery.
We also had Lee from Shutterbox Films as our videographer who was a joy to have around on the wedding day, we first came across Lee at one of Iscoyd’s open days, and just like Sarah’s imagery, we instantly fell in love with Lee’s work and were over the moon to book him to capture our day alongside Sarah. We are so patiently waiting for our highlights video and can not wait to see what Lee will put together for us. Both were an absolute pleasure to have with us during our day, Lewis and I really aren’t great at being in front of the camera however Sarah and Lee somehow made it feel so easy and comfortable. Both so so highly recommended!
Oh my gosh of course, how could we forget to mention Tilly!! She is our pup, I always said that I’d love to have a dog of our own with us on our wedding day but it just happened that when we finally had the opportunity to have a pup, she was too young to have at the wedding so the breeder (who we know) was looking after her for us. However, my mum contacted Ella to ask if she’d be willing to bring Tilly to the venue to surprise us as she happened to live pretty close by! And it was the most wonderful surprise 🥰
We wanted to make sure all our guests had fun throughout the day, it was super important to us, so we had the amazing Adam (The DFC Experience) host our day following the ceremony, entertaining our guests from start to finish. We played Mr & Mrs during the wedding breakfast followed by their take on Bongo’s Bingo which got everyone up dancing and singing, it was truly magical watching him work the room and getting everyone involved.
We then had the wonderfully talented Paddy, also part of the DFC team, live singing for us to get the evening started, we were blown away by Paddy’s performance, any song request you have Paddy will belt it out with no hesitation, he is a music library! We also had Rory a live saxophonist who played alongside Paddy and really got involved with the guests on the dance floor, putting on a party!
We then carried on the night with the brilliant Robin, also part of DFC, DJ’ing the night away. Hours of none stop dancing from everyone was a real highlight of our day. We didn’t want the night to end! Iscoyd’s bar is on the dance floor which meant everyone was able to continue dancing and singing along with us whilst ordering their drinks.
I’d say to try to enjoy the planning process and build up to the wedding as much as possible, it is such a wonderful time, and the wedding day really does go by in a flash so it’s worth enjoying the pre wedding moments just as much!
I found myself feeling guilty not being able to speak to everyone on the day however, I’m so glad that Lew and I made a pact to stay together as much as possible as at the end of the day, it is our day! And I found us looking at each other all giddy and overwhelmed with love and joy each time we came together.
Lewis’ words of wedding wisdom are to not stress about the small things on the day and to leave it to the suppliers/wedding manager to take over and do what they do best! You really have to put your trust in them to help make your day run as smoothly as possible. Let your hair down and enjoy it!
