What made you choose Iscoyd Park for your wedding venue?
We had been thinking of an Italian wedding originally, but felt like we needed so see some UK venues first to rule out a honeymoon wedding. We saw Iscoyd on Bridebook and realised they were having an Open Day that weekend. As soon as we drove up the path to Iscoyd Park we were in awe. We were shown around by Phil and he took us round the gardens and the bedrooms first. We both fell in love with the house; it just felt so special and homely but it was when we saw the Garden Room that our idea of an Italian wedding didn’t seem so appealing anymore.
For me, it was everything I’d imagined in my head for my wedding day it was just perfect. The addition of the homemade scones and jam to take home sealed the deal for Mikey 🤣; the first time we viewed Iscoyd it was a miserable rainy January day and the house and grounds even in the wet brushing weather were breathtaking so we knew we didn’t need a sunny day for the venue to shine.
We went back to Iscoyd many times before our wedding and every time we went we fell even more in love with the place. It’s just so so special everyone really makes you feel like you’re part of the family and that you’re the only couple getting married there. We even received a Christmas card the year before we got married celebrating that we would be getting married that next year which was such a nice personal touch.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
This is so tough! I really enjoyed the morning getting ready with my girls, I wish I could relive that morning again and again. We both also loved sitting in the Coach House listening to our band perform an acoustic set and soaking up the atmosphere of our friends and family laughing and chatting together. We also had a magician so seeing everyone enjoying his tricks was really nice to see.
Tell us a little bit about your wedding theme.
We (I) really wanted colour but as we were getting married in the spring I wanted to keep it seasonal so we went with pastel blues pinks and greens. And lots of bows!
The Outfits; Who did you wear? What did your bridal party wear?
My dress was by
Enzoani from
Liverpool Bridal Boutique. We custom added the big bow on the back and the side split. My shoes were
Aquazurra– if any brides are wanting to splurge a bit on their shoes, they are so so comfy they feel like slippers!
The suits were from
Marc Darcy and Mikey wore a floral Ted Baker tie. For the bridesmaids I really wanted to give them as much freedom as I could with picking their dresses so they felt as good as I was going to! Becca picked a pink satin dress from
Six Stories, Sophie’s green dress was from
Simply Be and my maid of honour, Kirstie chose a dusty blue satin trouser and blazer set from
Coast which I absolutely loved as it was so different from your typical bridesmaid outfit.
The Flowers; Tell us some more about your blooms.
Our flowers were created by our family friend florist
Flowers By Elizabeth. She has done flowers for us and our family for years so it was an obvious choice!
I wanted an English country garden feel for all the flowers including the bouquets keeping the colour theme throughout. We went with a mix of centrepieces and bud vases for the table as we were having a lot of candles to create a bit of a romantic atmosphere. The beauty with Iscoyd is that you can go as big or as small with the decor as you want, the venue is so stunning on its own you really don’t need to add much to it.
The Photography; Who were your photographers and why did you choose them?
Our photographer, along with the band, were the two things that took us the longest to decide on as we had a very clear vision of what we wanted. We wanted photos that had a more modern feel to them, photos that were more creative. My specification was I wanted photos to put on my wall in poster size that don’t immediately look like ‘wedding photos’ and they look like they could have been taken from a magazine.
We decided on
Elizabeth Jayne Photography and she didn’t not disappoint. Liz captured our day perfectly and made two camera phobic people very comfortable. She also nailed our brief and our living room wall now looks incredible.
The Evening; Give us the lowdown on entertainment.
From day one of planning our wedding we knew for absolute certainty that we would be having a pop punk band. After much deliberation we decided upon
Kerrashed. There were really a highlight of our day, it was our own personal concert with all of our favourite songs it was just fantastic, we had the best night ever with them. They also made sure they played songs that all our guests would know so it meant that there was something for everyone.
Words of Wedding Wisdom?
I think the biggest advice I could give is to plan the day for yourself. Make sure it’s the day you both want and you’re not pleasing too many people and losing what you want along the way.
Also, don’t get too overwhelmed by Instagram and TikTok! Swipe past those wedding content creators when you’ve done all your planning!
Lastly, have the BEST time ever. Soak up every second of your day, don’t stress if anything goes wrong because Iscoyd will already be sorting it. You’ve done your bit so just relax and take it all in!
