What made you choose Iscoyd Park for your wedding venue?
Given that we’re both from North Wales originally, we wanted somewhere in Wales that was also close to our home in Chester. It was our firm favourite from the start, and when we came to view it, we couldn’t think of a single reason of why we wouldn’t get married here.
It had everything that we wanted – the ceremony room was light and airy, almost egalitarian, whilst the
Coach House was the more intimate, laid back vibe we wanted for our wedding breakfast. The whole venue was just absolutely stunning and the decor is so well thought out. Another big thing for us was the flexibility on our wedding menu – we’re not really ‘three course dinner’ kind of people and wanted something that reflected us as a couple, and the food was incredible.
All of the staff at Iscoyd were brilliant from day one, especially our wedding manager Chelcie; nothing was too much trouble and her passion and excitement for our big day shone through.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
Aside from having all of our friends and family in one place for one day only and the entire day being an absolute blast, there were a few stand out moments:
We did a first look before the ceremony, which I highly recommend – it was the calm before the storm we needed and didn’t distract from the big moment of walking down the aisle either. It was a really special time for just us two as we’d broken tradition by spending the night before having a party with all of our friends over at the cottage.
The confetti shot was another highlight; you’re riding on a high after just getting married, and it’s a surreal moment of walking through a tunnel of confetti surrounded by all of your friends and family. My veil also got stuck on the door mat and pulled me back as we were making our exit and was captured on video in slo-mo – it’s one of my favourite memories of the day.
We also really enjoyed our first dance, despite neither of us being ‘performers’ or enjoying the limelight – it was so much fun and we were in our own little world, and hearing the song will forever give me goosebumps and remind me of our special day.
Tell us a little bit about your wedding theme.
We didn’t really have a theme per se, but wanted to reflect our personal styles. In the end, we opted for pastels, blushes and muted tones to match the blooms of May, with hints of black and white which captured our style perfectly.
The Outfits; Who did you wear? What did your bridal party wear?
I wore a simple off-the shoulder
Martina Liana dress with a long train, and my veil was from
Nieve Couture which had the most delicate crystals scattered throughout.
My bridesmaids were in
Kate’s Dresses multiway dresses in Luxe Cappuccino – they were a last minute find and really just pulled the whole vision together. They wore them in different ways and was a great way for their own styles to shine through – they looked absolutely stunning.
Mike work a peak shawl tuxedo from
Charles Tyrwhitt, and the boys wore tuxedos from Moss Bros. They all scrubbed up so well and looked so handsome.
The Flowers; Tell us some more about your blooms.
Emily of
Linden Lea did the florals. I gave Emily complete creative licence and she did not disappoint; they were gorgeous. I’d asked for toffees, pinks, corals and blush in a meadow style for my May blooms, and again, they just tied the whole vision together. The bridesmaids bouquets and buttonholes for the men were smaller version of the spring flowers in my bouquet, and were simple, classy and elegant. I loved them so much I’ve had them preserved and framed so I can keep them forever.
The Photography; Who were your photographers and why did you choose them?
We had the incredible Lucy of
Clara Cooper Photography taking our photos! I feel like we gained an immediate friend from the offset and she made us feel so comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
Not only is Lucy insanely talented, but the shots she’s captured are out of this world – time and memories frozen in every shot. The pictures give me goosebumps!
She also went above and beyond her role helping to tidy up whilst I got ready, assisted with the flowers, sorting the Groomsmen out… the list is endless.
The Evening; Give us the lowdown on entertainment.
We have very different music tastes (think EDM and rock-pop-punk…) so we wanted to find someone who could marry the two together. Our DJ made sure that we had a good selection of songs to please us and our guests and managed to get everyone on the dancefloor.
Beer pong went down ridiculously well with our guests, and everyone loved squeezing into the photobooth with all of the props. Everyone has mentioned how delicious the pizzas were too…I’m sure some people had more than their fair share!
Words of Wedding Wisdom?
Despite all the best planning and will in the world, things will go wrong on the day and you just have to roll with it – it’s still the best day of your lives and the most perfect day!
Try to soak it all in – but don’t feel guilty if you can’t! I thought I did but the day goes by so fast and is such a blur. Seeing pictures and videos brings all the emotions and memories right back.
Don’t worry about trying to speak to all of your guests – make sure you spend every possible moment with your new husband or wife! We don’t regret sticking together for 99% of the day.
Get guests to take pictures and videos too – after the ceremony of course! We’ve got some cracking pictures and videos that our guests took that are some of our favourites.
