At the start of our wedding planning journey, we made a list of some ‘non-negotiables’ as we called them, and this helped us immediately narrow down our search (which was super helpful in this initial process!) We wanted somewhere big enough to accommodate our big families, a place that a large portion of our guests could stay on site, as well as a venue that allowed us to throw a serious party! Iscoyd popped up every single time. And although we are based in London we knew the trip to view it was needed. And it was so worth it! Driving up the driveway was one of those moments that just takes your breath away (something our guests have commented on too!), seeing the house in all its glory and being treated like a new member of the family from the second you park up and walk through the door.
It was a special experience and we knew in that moment that it was the venue for us. Friends and family are the most important thing, and finding a venue that not just wowed in aesthetics but also experience was key, and Iscoyd provided just that. Every inch of the house is stunning and unique; we felt like we were bringing our loved ones into a home, a place where we could celebrate love and family and ultimately create a weekend filled to the brim with emotion.
To answer this question is impossible as it was all so incredible. But for me as the bride, probably walking down the aisle to my new husband, seeing him standing there surrounded by all of our loved ones. There is nothing quite like it. My husband Niall agrees that the ceremony was his favourite part. It set the tone of the day and with the light pouring in, pure magic! I must say, the food was also exceptional! It was also beyond perfect to have Iscoyd Cottage on site for myself and my bridal party to stay in the night before and get ready the morning of. The energy was palpable, and with the snow settled around us, it was quite literally the most magical day.
I stumbled upon our photographer Emmy Shoots‘ Instagram very early on, and I could not get her out of my head. I felt like I was looking at art. And that’s exactly what she is, an artist. Her focus on detail and light, and ability to capture moments of perfection as well as imperfection. It was everything we wanted. We became obsessed with this idea of our photos feeling timeless; we wanted to look back on them in 30 or 40 years and not feel like they were part of a trend or a particular moment in time. And that is where Emmy excels. She is pure class. She offers digital and analogue photography and the idea of being able to capture some of our day on film won us over.
Her photography is sophisticated. She captures the little details and most importantly, the magic. No wonder she has been named one of the top photographers in the UK. And our videographer John Taylor! Wow. We also stumbled upon his Instagram via another Iscoyd bride. He has this incredible ability of understanding his clients and creating a film that reflects who they are. We wanted something romantic and full of love, but also something fun and uplifting. This is why we went with him, and he delivered big time. We asked for a movie, and boy did we get that!
My brother is part of a band, The New Coast, and we are his biggest fans, so we felt it only right that he performed. He sang our first dance (which was a mash up of some of our favourite tracks going into one of his most beautiful songs), and he then got the guests on their feet with a couple of his absolute bangers.
TruGroove were our main entertainment and they were so accommodating in allowing Nick to sing these first few tunes! They then took over and wowed everyone with their sets. THEIR VOICES!! We saw them perform at a friends wedding a few years back and that was it for us, they were always going to play at our wedding. We never looked at anyone else. And if you have seen them perform live you will understand why. They are out of this world. We also got the pizza truck going between sets so our guests could tuck in to a late night snack, and TruGroove provided a DJ for after which kept everyone on the dance floor. Iconic.
Keep calm, and trust in your suppliers. They are professionals and know exactly what they are doing. It’s easy to allow the chaos of those final few days of wedding planning to seep into the big day, but take a deep breath and trust in the professionals around you. But most importantly, enjoy every single moment. From the second you arrive until the moment you leave with your new spouse. It really is the best day of your lives and everyone is there to celebrate you and your love. That’s the main thing. As long as the love is there, everything else will fall into place. I have completely fallen in love with the process and wedding planning in general, of course massively helped by our incredible venue co-ordinator Kate, so who knows, maybe I can become one of those wedding professionals one day! Thank you to everyone at Iscoyd for our day, it was absolutely perfect.
