It felt like home to us, so cosy, charming, and welcoming; it’s the perfect venue! It had everything we wanted and more for our dream wedding day. As soon as we came to visit, we instantly knew it was the one. We fell in love with the beautiful house, the grounds, and the lovely staff, especially Charlotte, our planner (who we can’t thank enough) having postponed twice, she kept our mind at ease and was super easy to work with, catering to our needs and ensuring we had the perfect day from start to finish.
Our favourite part was finally getting married after three dates! It felt amazing to finally say ‘I do,’ and have the wedding we’ve always dreamed of. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole day (and wish we could do it all over again). It was lovely to have all our family and friends to celebrate with us on our special day and most importantly, having that moment to ourselves at the top table, taking it all in and enjoying our time together.
The theme was romantic and elegant with the colours gold, blush, nude and ivory. Our flowers included blooms of peonies, roses, hydrangea as well as pampas grass. We kept it quite simple at the church (St Mary’s Church, Whitewell) with two acrylic plinths at the top and a beautiful dome of fresh flowers. We had a mix of domes of fresh flowers and pampas grass on gold plinths and clusters of cut-glass tealights with fresh rose petals on the tables. The top table was filled with fresh flowers in clear cut glass vases with tealights and floating candles; it was beautiful, and everything worked well together. We also decided at the last minute to hire matching gold crockery and glassware from Whitehouse Crockery which looked stunning with the rest of the decor on our tables – I loved all the little details!
We wanted the decor to run throughout the house; we had flowers at the base of the stairs with pillar candles and hurricane lanterns, flowers on the swing, we had flowers added to our copper sign saying, ‘Happily Ever After,’. Flowers were also added to our beautiful cake from Confetti & Crumbs. We had a flower wall in the drawing room, our initials S&C in lit up letters from The Word is Love in the Garden Room and a stand where guests could take polaroid photos and hang them up on lights in marquee. We used gold mirrors for our table plan and sign with floating candles and petals as well as a clear acrylic post box with flowers underneath to match the theme of our wedding.
My dress was Nolen by Enzoani, it was the perfect lace, mermaid gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline, I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on! I wore this with the Bianco ivory plain single tier floor length veil to really show off the train. My bridesmaids wore the nude Lisa one shoulder maxi dress with a pleated detail from Jarlo London and my adorable flower girls wore an ivory short sleeve lace dress from John Lewis. Scott wore a duck egg blue three-piece suit from Groom with a navy tie and shoes to match and his groomsmen wore a navy suit with the duck egg blue waistcoat to match.
I’ve always loved roses and knew I wanted more flowers than foliage, so my very talented florist Joseph Massie suggested a mix of roses, hydrangeas and peonies which looked beautiful and romantic together, along with an ivory satin ribbon and pearl headed pins.
We wanted to have both a photographer and videographer to capture our big day so we we’re very lucky to find Terri & Lori who happened to do both! We loved their artistic style and how light and creative their photos and videos are; they captured our day perfectly and were amazing to work with.
My husband absolutely loved having a band play at our wedding and The Big Beat did a fantastic job. They played classics which had everyone on the dancefloor singing and dancing until midnight, we didn’t want it to end!
In terms of planning a wedding, if you’re stuck on suppliers, we highly recommend looking on socials like Instagram and seeing who others have tagged in their posts, that’s how we found some of our suppliers. On the big day, do take a few minutes together to really take in everything and enjoy every minute as the day truly does go so fast!
