We had been to a few wedding venues before coming to see Iscoyd and we didn’t get excited by any of them. As soon as we pulled up the drive towards Iscoyd we both got goosebumps; I think then we knew we were going to get married here. The grounds are immaculate, the house so full of history, the staff were incredible and we were lucky enough to have a tour from Phil on the open day. He wasn’t even trying to sell it to us, the house sells itself, but listening to the stories Phil has from his years growing up there… we knew it was such a family orientated place, full of love and that’s what we wanted. It has so much character, each room has its own story, there are so many little places to explore both in the house and in the gardens and it is just the most beautiful and special place. We will definitely be revisiting Iscoyd over and over again even now we are married; it feels like a second home now.
I find it really hard to pick one part or one moment because it was all amazing. But I loved the build up in the morning, getting my dress on, seeing my Dad for the first time, getting to the church and walking down the aisle towards my husband and then saying our vows. I loved our speeches too, they were so emotional, so personal and so special. Having our little boy Elijah with us was also so, so special, he is too little to be able to remember it but having the most beautiful images of our day to show him in the future means so much. Everyone tells you it’s the best day of your life and that’s really how it felt.
We wanted a wedding that would be timeless and elegant so we decided on whites and greens for our colour palette. The bridesmaids wore forest green which was a beautiful contrast against the grounds. Our flowers were lots of white florals and greenery which complimented Iscoyd’s decor perfectly!
My dress was from Dotty Bridal who are the most incredible bridal shop in Holmfirth. My dress was the Rea gown by Pronovias. I felt absolutely amazing in it, it was everything I had ever dreamed of in a wedding dress, timeless and elegant.
My husband wore a three piece tuxedo with a shawl neckline from Moss Bros, it was tailored to perfection and he looked so handsome!
My bridesmaids wore dresses from JJ’s House and shoes from Shein to try and keep costs down. We had two different styles of gowns for the bridesmaids and a lace top and tulle skirt for my younger bridesmaid. They looked so beautiful and they all loved their dresses. I would really recommend JJ’s house, their service was fantastic.
The groomsmen wore tuxedos from Slaters Menswear with a slightly different neckline to the groom. I absolutely loved how smart they all looked on the day and how the suits look in the photos…. Tuxedos were definitely the perfect choice!
We wanted something that would be clean, fresh and classic like an English country garden as Iscoyd represents that so well. We went with different kinds of white flowers you would find in a country garden with lots of green foliage. I adored our flowers, they smelt incredible and looked so beautiful. Edwina at Dusky Blooms did the most incredible job and was so helpful throughout the whole process.
Our wedding photographer was Charlie Hughes from Wambam Weddings. A friend of mine had booked her for her wedding a few years ago and I remember thinking her photos were amazing so Charlie was the first person we contacted! Charlie was everything we wanted in a photographer, discreet, calm, kind and brilliant at her job! She works with a laid back, natural feel to her photos but also managed to capture all the glamour, all the emotion, all the laughs and all the smiles in such a perfect way. We adore our photos and would recommend her so much! They are photos we will treasure forever.
We also had a videographer – Damian Kelly Media. From the minute we met Damian we knew he was the guy for us. Laidback, funny, enjoys a good party! He was relatively new to the industry of videography when we booked him but he was incredible. Again, so discreet, so professional, super friendly, all our guests loved him! We’ve only had our teaser trailer so far and WOW… it was special. We can’t wait to see the rest!
In the evening we hired Jonny Ross Music. We had Greg as our Dj and what. a. vibe!! He played to the crowd that’s for sure, his mixing was amazing, the dance floor was never empty and he knew exactly what we wanted! Everyone commented on how they had never been to a wedding with such an amazing Dj! We also had a sax player from Jonny Ross music and she was incredible, really brought the party vibe and everyone loved the surprise!!
We had a neon sign from The Word is love which was dressed with our flowers from the church. This was a great focal point for pictures and gave the dance floor a little something special!
Enjoy the build up and try to not be too stressed. Remember it’s your day, your way and it’s about you and your partner. Take some time for yourselves (I wish we had done this more). And don’t worry about how much time you spend with your guests… you will never get to speak to every person and it’s about enjoying your day… so if you want to dance the night away and never leave the dance floor (like I did) then absolutely do it!!!
